Selvedge is currently looking for energetic people to join our back of house team at our new location in the Bellair neighborhood in Charlottesville!

  • Line Cook Expectations 

    • Set up and stocking stations with all necessary supplies

    • Prepare food for service (e.g. chopping vegetables, butchering meat or preparing sauces)

    • Cook menu items in cooperation with the rest of the kitchen staff

    • Answer, report and follow Chefs instructions

    • Clean up station and take care of leftover food

    • Stock inventory appropriately

    • Ensure that food comes out simultaneously, in high quality and in a timely fashion

    • Comply with sanitation regulations and safety standards

    • Maintain a positive and professional approach with coworkers and customers

    • Able to stand for long periods of time and lift 50 or more pounds

    Experience:

    • cook: 1 year (Preferred)

    • restaurant: 1 year (Preferred)

    • line cook: 1 year (Preferred)

    • kitchen: 1 year (Preferred)

    • food handler certificate (Preferred)

  • Starting base pay is $15/hr + Tips

    Service Fee & Supplemental Tip Pool 

    All dine-in checks will have a 15% service fee automatically applied. This fee is in place to assure that all Selvedge employees receive an hourly wage that reflects a reasonable living wage.

    All hourly employees (both FOH and BOH) will be included in the Supplemental Tip Pool. This pool is made up of supplemental tips provided by Selvedge patrons over the 15% service fee, accumulated over each two week pay period, and distributed based on hours worked. This distribution is regularly shared with all team members.

  • Selvedge Operating Hours 

    Sunday - 12pm-9pm

    Monday & Tuesday - 3pm-9pm 

    Wednesday & Thursday - 12pm-9pm

    Friday & Saturday - 12pm-10pm 

    Shifts are typically 12pm-8pm and/or 3pm-CL (9:30pm-11pm)
